How it works

How to use YouTube Thumbnail Downloader

  1. 1Copy the link of a YouTube video or Short (Share → Copy link).
  2. 2Paste it in the box. Thumbnails load straight away.
  3. 3Tap Download under the size you want. Full HD (1280×720) is the sharpest when the creator uploaded one.

Grab any YouTube thumbnail in full quality

Creators, designers and students often need a video’s thumbnail: to study what works in their niche, to add a reference to slides, or to recover their own artwork when the original file is lost. Paste a link and every size YouTube stores appears at once, from the full HD 1280×720 image down to the small preview.

The images come directly from YouTube’s image servers to your browser. Nothing is uploaded and there’s no sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use someone else’s thumbnail?

Thumbnails belong to the video’s creator. Download them for reference, research or your own videos. Don’t reuse another creator’s thumbnail as your own without permission.

Why is there no Full HD version for some videos?

YouTube only creates a 1280×720 thumbnail when the video or its custom thumbnail is high resolution. If it doesn’t exist, use the SD or High size.

Does it work with YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Paste a Shorts link (youtube.com/shorts/…) and you’ll get the same thumbnail sizes.

Can I download the video itself?

No. This tool only saves the thumbnail image. Downloading videos is against YouTube’s terms unless YouTube shows a download button for that video.
