Beautify, minify and validate JSON.
Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use JSON Formatter
- 1Paste your JSON into the box.
- 2Tap Format to indent it, or Minify to put it on one line.
- 3If there’s an error, the message shows the line and column, and the cursor jumps there.
- 4Copy or download the result.
Read and fix JSON quickly
API responses and config files are often a single unreadable line. Format turns them into neatly indented JSON so you can scan the structure, and the validator tells you exactly where a missing comma or stray quote is.
Because it runs entirely in your browser, it’s safe to paste responses that contain tokens or personal data.
Frequently asked questions
Is my JSON sent to a server?
No. Formatting and validation run in your browser, so API keys, tokens and private data stay on your device.
What does minify do?
It removes all spaces and line breaks, making the JSON as small as possible for sending over a network.
Why is my JSON invalid?
Common causes are trailing commas, single quotes instead of double quotes, and keys without quotes. The error message points to the exact spot.
Can it sort keys?
Yes. Tick “Sort keys” before tapping Format to order every object’s keys alphabetically, which makes two files easier to compare.
